Why we just killed the 14-Day Trial (and what we’re doing instead)

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a major change we’ve made to how SwiftReporter works—and explain why we did it.

When we first launched, we did what every other software company does: we set up a 14-day free trial. The standard logic is that a ticking clock creates “urgency” and forces you to make a buying decision quickly.

But after talking to many of you over the last few months, I realized that model is broken for this industry.

The Reality of Inspection Life Most of you aren’t just sitting around waiting to test software.

  • You’re finishing field training.

  • You’re working a second job while building your inspection business.

  • You’re juggling family, kids, and the chaos of life.

A 14-day timer assumes that learning new software is your #1 priority. It isn’t.

I spoke to a user recently who signed up but didn’t log in for 10 days because his kid got sick. By the time he came back, his trial was expiring. That’s not a “feature”—that’s just stressful.

So, we scrapped it.

As of this week, SwiftReporter has switched to a “Forever Trial” model.

Here is what that means for you:

  1. No Time Limits: Take 3 weeks or 6 months to build your templates. We aren’t going to lock you out.

  2. No Credit Card Required: You don’t need to give us payment info just to look around.

  3. Full Access: You can use the entire platform (Web + Mobile App) to learn the workflow and run mock inspections on your own house until you feel confident.

The Philosophy We believe the only time you should pay us is when our software is actively helping you make money.

If you want to spend the winter off-season slowly building out your comment library at midnight on Tuesdays? Go for it. It’s free.

When you finally book a paying client and need to generate a real, non-watermarked report? That’s when you upgrade to the $39/mo plan (which we are locking in for life for early users).

We’re trying to build a company that supports your timeline, not one that rushes it.

If you haven’t checked us out in a while, or if your old trial expired before you really got a chance to dig in, your account is open again.

Give it a spin whenever you’re ready: https://app.swiftreporter.com/signup
