3 Scenarios Where Video Just Saved Your Assets (and Your Reputation)

The Reality Check: We all know that “brand new” feeling when a feature drops. But now that Video Observations have been live for a month, I want to talk about the why behind the tech.

In a world where litigation is rising and clients are increasingly anxious, a static photo is no longer a bulletproof shield. Here are three field scenarios where hitting the “Record” button in SwiftReporter is the smartest business move you’ll make all week:

1. The “Ghost” Noise (Mechanical & HVAC) You flag a blower motor that sounds like a bag of marbles. You take a photo of the unit. The client moves in, the motor dies, and the seller’s agent says, “It sounded fine when I was there.” The Fix: A 5-second video of that rattling bearing. Audio evidence is the hardest thing for a lawyer or a grumpy seller to “interpret” their way out of.

2. The “Active” Plumbing Leak A photo of a damp spot on a subfloor is a suggestion. A video of a waste pipe actively dripping while the shower is running upstairs is a fact. When you show movement, you remove the “it’s probably just an old stain” excuse from the negotiation.

3. The “Stability” Test (Decking & Balustrades) We’ve seen a massive uptick in deck failures lately. A photo of a railing doesn’t show the 4 inches of play when you put weight on it. The Fix: Film the deflection. It proves the safety hazard in a way a static image of a bolt never could.

Why we didn’t go “Full Hollywood” I’ve had a few of you ask why we limited the clips to short bursts. It’s intentional.

  • Faster Uploads: You don’t want to be sitting in your truck for 20 minutes waiting for a 4K movie to sync.

  • Attention Spans: Agents and buyers won’t watch a 5-minute documentary. They want the 10-second “proof.”

Question for the veterans here: Since the update went live, have you used video to settle a “he-said-she-said” moment yet? Or is there a specific defect you’ve found that you wish you had video for in the past?
